Haman's Pride and Mordecai's Scorn

Esther 5:9-14

5
Chapter 5
9 And Haman went out that day joyful and with a good heart. But when Haman saw Mordecai at the king's gate, and Mordecai did not arise or tremble before him, Haman was filled with wrath against Mordecai. 10 But Haman restrained himself, came to his house, sent for his friends, and brought Zeresh his wife. 11 And Haman told them his glory, the abundance of his riches, and the multitude of his sons, and all that the king had made great and that they had lifted up over the chief officials and servants of the king. 12 And Haman said, "Moreover, Queen Esther did not bring the king with her to the feast that she made—except me—and also tomorrow I am called to her with the king." 13 And all this is not equal to me every time that I see Mordecai the Jew sitting in the king's gate. 14 Zeresh his wife said to him, and all his friends, "Make a tree fifty cubits high, and in the morning say to the king that they will hang Mordecai on it." And he went with the king to the banquet joyful, and the word was good before Haman, and he made the tree.
